Part of my sustainable ink project included consideration of recycling and re-using the paper. I bought a briquette maker with the aim of making paper briquettes to light fires.
You can watch the process in this video.
I had a lot of old used paper already stored for shredding for this purpose and was excited to try the briquette maker out.
I dipped the shredded paper in water to soak it briefly before putting it into the briquette maker and pressing the water out, shaping it into a brick. It takes a fair amount of shredded paper to make just one briquette.
The bricks took a few weeks to fully dry out.. even with the warm weather this summer.
