Pigments aren’t permanent

I checked pigments that I had previously made and saved in jars in a dark drawer.

Unfortunately, the colour had drained from most of them and it was difficult to distinguish between them. The jars with the green pigments shown below are the same inks but on the day they were created, for comparison.

The liquid in the smallest jar had gone mouldy. I hadn’t made a note of what each of these colours were made from, but it was interesting to see how much the colours change in a short time, or go mouldy.

I will need to make sure that the pigments I use for animation are made on the day I am using them for maximum retention of colour.
